Tale of Five Gamers

It was beginning to get dark on Arkun'osa, a recently settled planet by the Tau during their Third Sphere Expansion, when Chaos Marines arrived at the summoning star within the ruins of an ancent city dedicated to the foul Gods of Chaos. Their plan was simple; to summon the bulk of their forces from aboard the warships scouting the nearby systems using an evil ritual that would send up foul warp energies into space.

As the preperations got underway, unknown to the Chaos force, a small scouting party of Tyranids had also discovered this planet and were ready to report back to their Hive Fleet, Tiamet, and bring their full weight down upon this lush Tau Planet, removing everything living from its surface.

It was Aspiring Champion Horkal who first felt something un-natural in the vicinity, looking over his shoulder he caught a glimpse of several Genestealers advancing through the ruins south of his position. "Men, ready up. Advance, to the ruins. Blood for our God" He yelled pointing in the direction of the Stealers. As they moved towards the aliens, the Marines opened fire with their Bolters and slaughtering several of the beasts and forcing the remainder to fallback. Un-beknowest to the advancing Marines a Tyranid Lictor lurked amongst the shadows of the moss covered ruins, only meters to their left flank.

As more Genestealers moved in on the forces of Chaos from their right, Horkal gave the command to engage as many targets as possible, and with supporting fire from a squad of havocs, they managed to wipe out the remaining Genestealers from the first pack and half of the other pack. Unfortunatley for the Marines it just wasn't enough and the Genestealers lept forward, their claws and talons reflecting the growing moon as they sliced through the millenia old armour of the Chaos Squad. From behind, the Lictor also lept from its hiding place, surrounding the Marines, and aiding the Stealers in tearing the Marines limb from limb. Only the Aspiring Champion, Horkal survived the onslaught, but believing all was lost and his God had deserted him, he fled from the battlefield calling for a full retreat.

The havocs however, held their position, knowing full well what awaited them if they fled or failed, as later on Harkal would find out. They opened fire with all they had and wiped out the now advancing Genestealers. Finally, a well placed Boltgun round through the eye of the Lictor, from the squad sergeant, sealed the fate of the Tyranid advance party.
